North American P51d Mustang "Tall in the Saddle"

Description

Mustang "Tall in the Saddle" at Old Warden. The aircraft wears the colour scheme of a US Army Air Force, 332nd Fighter Group, 99th Fighter Squadron aircraft flown by 2nd Lieutenant George Hardy from March 1945 when based at Ramitelli, Italy. The Squadron was part of the unit nicknamed the 'Red Tails' and 'Red Tail Angels' and latterly known as the 'Tuskegee Airmen'. The aircraft itself is believed to be a former original 'Red Tails' aircraft.
